Just what is LightWeave technology built into the Luma10 and how is it it different from the experience offered from other Mind Machines?

The Basics

Let's first start with the basics about Mind Machine light stimulation. In standard Mind Machine designs, the lights illuminate at the same time in both eyes (synchronous eye stimulation), or some illuminate by alternating back and forth with one side off while the other side is on (alternating stimulation).

When both eyes are illuminated at the same time, the light stimulates both hemispheres (left and right) simultaneously. When the light alternates back and forth from one side to the other, one side of the brain or hemisphere is stimulated while the other is not.

It's interesting to ponder the effect this has on sensory stimulation and its effects on cognition. When the left eye is illuminated, it stimulates activity in the opposite side of the brain (right brain) and when the right eye is illuminated, it stimulates activity in the left side of the brain.

When the left eye is stimulated sending neuronal activity to the right brain, this activates the creative or artistic visual side of the brain. When the right eye is stimulated, the neuronal activity crosses over to the left side of the brain activating the logical, analytical processes of brain function.

Mind Machine programs that employ synchronous eye stimulation (both eyes illuminated simultaneously) produce a “focus” balancing of activity with the right and left hemispheres at the same time. These programs cause one to be more cognizant and aware during the mind state program you have selected. Interestingly, the visuals one sees when the light stimulation is synchronous is of a square geometry pattern.

Programs that alternate the light left to right decentralize or defocus and relax the brain's attention while experiencing a particular mind state program. This means you are not as aware of the mind state produced. In other words, your focus is “diffused.” The optical visuals produced when the eye stimulation is alternating produces circular patterns.

Most Mind Machine programs change the light stimulation back and forth from synchronous to alternating; that is why sometimes you see circular internal geometric patterns, then moments later square.

There is one last concept to get the basics of Mind Machine technology. Light stimulation being on/off/on/off is typically done in equal lengths of time (also known as a 50% "duty cycle"). This means that 50% of the time the lights are off, the rest of the time the lights are on (50%). Both cycles of on/off add up to 100%.

How LightWeave Works

Now that we know the basics; here's how LightWeave works. LightWeave employs both synchronous and alternating light stimulation! LightWeave randomly changes the light stimulation patterns from 50 % on and 50% off to: 60% on - 300% off, 120% on - 240% off, 240% on - 120% off, and 300% on - 60% off.

This means that the on/off duty cycles vary randomly in duration of lights on versus off. This creates the most sensational visual light patterns yet produced by any Mind Machine.

Why? No one knows quite for sure, but LightWeave stimulation is more representative of how light pulses occur in nature. Think of watching the refraction of light off of ocean waves or waves in a lake or stream; the light refraction or stimulation is always varied in duration from on to off.

Another example is to look at sunlight shining through leaves in a forest of trees with a gentle wind blowing. The light coming through continuously changes in duration of on/off cycles.

Reports from customers indicate they have some of the best visual experiences using LightWeave, and particularly when they use music with a program.

The Luma 10 uses special LightWeave programs developed by Christopher Oliver, a mastermind of light and sound programming since 1991. Christopher spent hundreds of hours developing the LightWeave programs to elicit the most trance-enhancing yet in the realm of Mind Machine stimulation.

The practical benefits of these trance-enhancing visuals are they maximize the ability to “mentally escape” from mundane thinking, are ideal for hypnosis, and make great “general healing” sessions. The reason that better visuals have a greater impact on general healing is that the visuals take you deeper into the experience, allowing you to relax deeper and get rid of more stress.
