The Architecture of Stress
Stress is a condition which disrupts the body’s inherent ability to self-heal.
Stress begins to set in after the process of birth. Once outside the womb, the infant suddenly needs to adapt to light, new sounds, strangers hovering around, eating, drinking, and last but not least, gravity tugging one downwards towards the center of the earth. What a drag!
The main dynamic law of stress is, the faster we are able to adapt to change, the less the stress accumulates. As we grow older however, the stress load tends to grow right along with us; which includes physical stress, emotional stress, spiritual stress, environmental stress, living stress, eating stress, work stress, relationship stress…
The result is a hidden monster within us wearing and tearing away at our personal resources to heal and rebuild our bodily resources. Over time, this adds up to an ever growing health tax; unless, you find a way to cope with stress and diminish its increasing affects.
The problem
One way of viewing stress is looking at an iceberg. We only see a small portion of it above the surface of the ocean, while the majority lays well hidden below the depths of the sea. This means that our actual stress tax is difficult to quantify in numbers because we just aren’t aware of how much there is.
The solution
Try to do just one thing each day to lessen your stress load. What you do thus quickly adds up to a great many things working for you. There are several layers of stress reduction, however, worth taking a look at.
There are things you can do immediately to handle simple stresses; such as breathing deeper, getting up and stretching, taking a walk, etc. Another simple technique is to use relaxation CDs either while working or on breaks.
Then there are things that you can do to ameliorate built-up stress such as implementing an exercise program, simplifying your life, and maintaining good sleep habits. Maintaining a schedule of things to do helps to implant this.
The biggest layer of stress accumulates due bad lifestyle choices involving poor eating habits, substance dependence, and relationship dysfunction. This type of stress reduction requires a long-term approach.
Seeking out empathic counseling to help you understand the underlying factors goes a long way to help you work out solutions.
Using behavioral modification CDs such as NLP and hypnosis is something simple you can do right at home. Mind Machines and Biofeedback devices also offer a great advantage to help because they offer general stress release which allows you to calmly take a look at situations in your life, and make better decisions on how to handle them.
A very popular way to use Mind Machines is using them while listening to a behavior modification CD, hypnosis CD, or NLP programs.
Changing bad lifestyle choices is truly one of the most important gifts you can give yourself that will make a long term difference for the rest of your life.
