Lucid Dreaming
Lucid dreaming is a term referring to dreams that seem quite real, and in fact so much so; one has volition to control the dream as if consciously awake and make decisions as to what to do, just like real life.
Promoters of lucid dreaming have been touting this process as an amazing experience where one enters an entirely different world, a world where the rules of the real world; no longer apply, such as flying through the air like a bird, instantly showing up at any desired destination, transgressing the restrictions of time going back to the past or forward into the future
If lucid dreaming sounds too good to be true, and if you are wonder about the mental sanity of those purporting to practice this, think again. Tibetan monks have been practicing Dream Yoga for thousands of years.
In fact, everyone has lucid dreams. Most lucid dreams occur after an illness such as a flu where one spends a few days in bed and is well rested. After the flu breaks, the mind then enters a stage where vivid and real imagery becomes quite perceptible. After a restful vacation, many people find that can enter a vivid state of image consciousness where there thoughts seem to become real.
The practice and discipline of lucid dreaming centers around making dream travel adventuresome for each participant.
So, is it possible to then go on a lucid vacation? Remotely visit your family and friends? See marvels of the world, or even visit the outer planets?
According to avid lucid dreamers, yes all this is possible and more; such as time travel where you are present during eras gone by, or visit the future.
One can only wonder due to how many science fiction novels herald inventions and events that come to pass in time. Space travel, for example was written about long before the concept of space ship technology was invented. Engineers frequently say how they wake up in the middle of the night and come up with solutions to problems while in a very lucid state of mind.
In fact, you will find if you ask your friends if they've had lucid experiences while dreaming, almost everyone will say yes. It is just not commonly talked about. Not just that, lucid dreams most commonly occur as a random event, as opposed to something one can control.
Lucid dreaming disciplines were devised to train people to enable this process at will on an ongoing and regular basis.
So now the question becomes just how does one proceed? There are many books, methods, and courses designed to help one initiate this experience.
My experience is, YES, lucid dreaming is real. Not only that, for me they evoke many fond memories similar to having gone on a wonderful vacation.
My advise to those wanting to explore this lucid domain is to begin with a regimen of overall stress reduction. Anything and everything you can do to reduce your stress load will go a long way and is your key to unlocking the door of this cryptic universe.
